Head Start to A-Level Biology

Head Start to A-Level Biology is designed to help students make a confident, calm and successful transition from GCSE to A-Level Biology.

Across the course, students will build strong foundations in key early topics, including cells, microscopy, biological molecules and cell membranes, while also developing the exam technique and study skills needed to thrive at A-Level.

Rather than simply learning more content, students will be guided to think more deeply, use precise biological language, apply their knowledge to unfamiliar questions and understand what examiners are really looking for. This course is

This is not about learning the whole A-Level early.

Students do not need to teach themselves the full course over the summer. They do not need to memorise every topic before September. And they definitely do not need to panic-scroll through revision videos wondering what on earth they have signed up for.

This course focuses on the foundations that make the biggest difference at the start of Year 12: key early content, clear explanations, study skills and exam technique.

The aim is not to add pressure. The aim is to make September feel easier and less overwhelming.

About Your Teacher

I’m Caroline: qualified Biology teacher, former Head of Biology, award-winning tutor & experienced examiner. 

My teaching is engaging, clear and exam-focused, with an emphasis on helping students understand not just what they need to know, but how to use that knowledge effectively. I specialise in teaching exam technique for OCR A-Level Biology in my membership, The Biology Boost.

I know how overwhelming the jump to A-Level can feel....but I also know that with the right support, students can start Year 12 feeling much more prepared.
